Calling All Bernina's

Hello SLH Followers,

Does Your Sewing Machine Need Servicing or Repair?

Right now our waitlist is down to nothing. We've called everyone on our waitlist to bring their machines. It's time for you to call the store and get your machine in line and we'll be calling you in no time. Once your machine is at the store, turn around can be as fast as a few days. It can take longer to service or repair some machines if we need to order parts, so please allow for a week or so for servicing.

For Bernina's and other home sewing machine brands, we recommend a yearly Full Service Cleaning to clean, oil and adjust all those parts and places you can't reach at home. Remember, we also service other brand machines too!

See our machine repair page for the list of accessories we'd like you to check in with your sewing machine when it's brought in for servicing.

Here are some tips from our technicians on sewing machine care to keep your sewing companion working well:

We do not recommend sewing over pins. You risk breaking a needle, which could fly in your face or cause a burr on the hook. If you have a broken needle, be sure to find and remove all broken pieces.
Change your needle and oil the hook every 3-4 sewing hours. Do not use a dull or damaged needle.
If your needle gets jammed in your fabric, disconnect the needle from the needle bar in order to remove the needle. Do not use the hand wheel to pry the needle out. It may cause your machine to go out of time or damage the hook of your machine.
Please do not use canned air to clean out the hook area of your machine. Lint flies up and may damage the computer boards.
Never use abrasives on the outer covers or touch screen. Any type of mild cleaning agent, such as 409, should be sprayed onto a cloth and then applied to clean covers. Never use acetone, mineral spirits or harsh chemicals.
When you bring your machine in for service, please include your all-purpose foot, foot control and electrical cord. At check-in, please list any problems that you may be having with your machine.
SURGE PROTECTORS ARE A MUST FOR ALL COMPUTER MACHINES! Recommended protection of at least 1000 joules.
