Quilt -As-You-Go String Quilt

The first week, you will learn the technique for making the blocks, and make a few that evening.
During the week between sessions, you will need to finish a minimum of 10 blocks.
The second week, you will learn how to join the blocks.
You will need a working sewing machine, 1/4" presser foot, walking foot, rotary cutter and ruler.
The following materials, which can ALL be cut from your scrap fabrics:
Quilt top:
- Assorted strips of fabric - 1" to 2.5" in width
- 35 5" squares OR 1 Charm pack (5 " squares)
If you want to match the sample, where the tree center strips are the same for every block, you will need:
- 1-1/4 yards of the center fabric (the peach fabric in the sample)
- Sub cut this into 35 2.5"x14" pieces
- 1 yard of the framing fabric (dark orange on the sample quilt)
- Sub cut in 70 1"x14" pieces
Backing: 35 10" squares (2-5/8 yards or 1 layer cake)
Batting: 35 9" squares or 45" x 63" batting
Bias Tape: 15 yards of 0.5" double fold bias tape OR 3/4 yard fabric
Binding: 1/2 yard
Special Notions:
Walking Foot
1" bias tape maker (if you bought yardage for your bias tape)
Thread that coordinates with your backing fabric
Thread that coordinates with your strips
