Fight Breast Cancer~Block Challenge and Silent Auction
Cutesy slogans and once a year fund raisers will be running the gamut in just a few weeks.
I have friends and family members who are survivors and some who are not.
In a show of respect and compassion to those who are currently going through or have been through treatment, we will be having a quilt block challenge and silent auction fund raiser. All profits will be donated to Breast Cancer Focus Alaska. BCFA will then distribute the funds in the form of grants to local businesses who are in line with BCFA mission "to support advocacy, education and research in Alaska to help eradicate breast cancer."
Block Challenge~create a 12 1/2" block to hang at SLH. Quilt Blocks are due October 6. Voting will begin October 7-16. Three Viewer Choice $50 gift cards will be given to the blocks that garner the most votes. All blocks will be turned into pillows to be donated to BCFA.
Please make your quilt block any color, any style, any theme.
Not every recipient likes pink or needs a daily reminder that they are dealing with breast cancer.
Silent Auction Items will be, but not limited to, finished quilts, purses, home decor, gift baskets, original oil and watercolor paintings. We will gladly accept additional donations to our auction.
Please drop off items by Friday, October 14.
