“Sew it Forward” Many of us are guilty of having more than one sewing machine. Some working, some old and some just sitting there taking up space. This is your chance to “Sew it Forward” and benefit from your own generosity! Donate your sewing machine, serger or embroidery machine, any make, model and condition and the amazing technicians at Seams Like Home will refurbish them. The machines will then be donated to a local organization. Covenant House will be the first to enjoy the donated sewing machines. For over 22 years Covenant House Alaska has been providing shelter, safety and services to the homeless, runaway and throwaway youth of our state. At no charge to them, Covenant House provides the basic necessities, as well as programs to help them find their way to education, employment and independence. Sewing machines will help provide a life long skill and enjoyment of fiber arts. With every donated sewing machine, serger or embroidery machine, Seams Like Home will give a $300 voucher to the person donating the machine. This voucher may be used towards the purchase of a new Bernina sewing machine. Machine being purchase must have an MSRP value of $1000 or more. It is our hope and goal that we continue to gather sewing machines, so that all local organizations who wish to have them at their facility will be able to do so. If your organization is interested in receiving donated sewing machines, please contact the shoppe to be put on the list. For more information about the Covenant House and what they do, check out their website:
Quilts of Valor Foundation The mission of the Quilts of Valor Foundation is to cover ALL combat service members and veterans touched by war with comforting and healing Quilts of Valor.
